Implement Google Tag Manager Integration with Codeless Setup

Overview

Implement seamless Google Tag Manager (GTM) integration that allows customers to set up Cookient's consent management with a simple copy-paste approach, requiring no custom code or additional configuration.

Background

This is a core requirement for the Google CMP Partner Program. Google requires that certified CMP partners provide a "guided implementation path and Google-ready banner without additional configuration work or code."

Requirements

GTM Community Template

• Create and publish a Cookient tag template to the GTM Community Template Gallery

• Template should handle both Consent Mode default and update commands automatically

• Include configurable options for consent categories mapping

Codeless Implementation

• Single script snippet that customers can add to their site or GTM container

• Auto-detection of GTM presence on the page

• Automatic initialization of Consent Mode with correct default states

• No manual JavaScript coding required from the customer

Consent Mode v2 Signals

• Properly communicate all required signals to GTM:

  • ad_storage

  • analytics_storage

  • ad_user_data

  • ad_personalization

• Ensure default commands fire before any Google tags

• Ensure update commands fire immediately after user consent choice
